Strengths: Dundee University Archives Services hold a wide variety of collections, dating from the fifteenth century to the present day, that contain a wealth of material for all types of researcher including academic staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students, private researchers, including family historians, and school pupils. The Archives Services manuscript collections include business, organisational, church, legal and private records; also held are records of the University itself, of the Brechin Diocese of the Scottish Episcopal Church, the Tayside Health Board Archive, as well as collections of local history, photographs, maps and plans, and British labour, social and shipping history. The chief missionary-related material held is the Torrance Collection describing medical missionary work in Israel.

Access conditions: It is not necessary to be a member of the University Library to consult the archives. However, a Readers ticket and proof of identity are required; contact the Archives Services for further details.
The Archives Services department is accessible by wheelchair.
Opening hours: Term time: Monday-Wednesday 09.00-18.00, Friday 09.00-17.00. Vacation: Monday-Wednesday, Friday 09.00-17.00. The Archives Services are closed all day on Thursdays, and between 13.00 and 14.00 on all opening days.
