CONTEXT Name of creator(s): Administrative/Biographical history: Dorothea Jane Stephen (fl 1927-1950) was a missionary in India. She was warden of St Andrews Missionary Training College, Madras, later known as St Andrews Training College for Religious and Social Service, and St Andrews House, which was established in July 1928, and closed in 1935 Custodial history: These papers were originally acquired by the Rev J. Stirling M. Hooper. They subsequently appear to have been transferred to the custody of Rev Lesslie Newbigin, with Hooper's papers were found amongst Newbigin's papers during the cataloguing of that collection. Cataloguing of the papers was undertaken by the Special Collections Department, University of Birmingham, in February 2001, as a result of the University of Birmingham's relationship with Selly Oak Colleges endowment trust Immediate source of acquisition: CONTENT AND STRUCTURE Scope and content/abstract: Correspondence and papers of Dorothea Jane Stephen relating to her activities as an educational missionary in South India System of arrangement: The papers are arranged into a single series of correspondence.
