CONTEXT

Name of creator(s):

Administrative/Biographical history: Henry Badger was born at Bilston in the West Midlands in October 1815. He became a local preacher in the Walsall Circuit of the Wesleyan Methodist Church and was eventually accepted as an ordained minister. He was appointed to serve in Sierra Leone, arriving there in 1837. He also carried out a period of service in Gambia and, for a time, served as Colonial Chaplain. He retired from missionary service in 1852 and died in 1877.

Custodial history: Donated to the Methodist Missionary Society in 1951

Immediate source of acquisition: Deposited on permanent loan with the records of the Methodist Missionary Society in 1978.
