Scope and content/abstract: The letters give a detailed account of Wilson's work amongst the people of the Gujarat area. He describes the way of life, customs and religion of the inhabitants as well as the geography of the region.

System of arrangement: The letters are arranged in chapters (WIL 1 etc.) under various topic headings. Each topic comprises one or more letters written at different times, e.g. villages, untouchables, transport, Muslims, social life.
