Falkner, Thomas Meade
Administrative/Biographical history: Thomas and Kathleen Falkner (husband and wife) were missionaries and teachers in the Delhi area in India in the 1930s and the 1940s. Their papers reflect their interest in what became the Diocese of North india and the link with Cambridge through the Cambridge Mission to Delhi.
Custodial history:
Immediate source of acquisition: Donated to the Henry Martyn Centre in the late 1990s by Belinda Parham, a cousin of Kathleen Falkner.
CONTENT AND STRUCTURE
Scope and content/abstract: The papers consist of letters, pamphlets, articles and magazine cutings which reflect the lives and interests of the Falkners in India and Sri Lanka. These include descriptions of village life, customs, religion and education in both countries. One file has papers relating to the Cambridge Mission to Delhi.
System of arrangement: Collection is divided into 6 folders covering correspondence, diary of a return visit to India in 1960-1, articles, pamphlets etc. on the Church of North India, one folder on the Delhi Diocese and the Cambridge Mission to Delhi and two folders of magazine cuttings on the geography and culture of the Indian subcontinent and Mayanmar.
