Custodial history: Immediate source of acquisition: Purchased at Stevens' 14 Oct. 1930, lot 349 CONTENT AND STRUCTURE Scope and content/abstract: 'Journal du voyage de France en Chine. Macao, le 2 janvier 1755 ... fin. Décrit à Caen ce premier de mai 1758'. An autobiographical narrative by Savary of his voyage from France to Tonkin via Mauritius and Macao, 1754-55, and of his missionary work in Tonkin [now Vietnam]. His narrative includes a description of the hospital in Mauritius (pp. 38-44), and references to health conditions on board ship.
